The Science Behind Food Combining Theory

The technical name of this scientific theory of food combining is

Trophology, and there are 5 Major food groups on the Trophology Chart:

  • Proteins (Meat, Dairy, Eggs, Beans & Nuts)
  • Carbohydrates (Starches, Fruits & Sugars)
  • Fruits (Acid Fruits & Sweet Fruits)
  • Fats (Animal & Vegetable)
  • Vegetables (Non-Starchy & Mildly Starchy)

The philosophy behind this eating plan is a simple biology, here is a quick explanation of the groups, which will map out the basics to learning what foods mix well with others, and which foods should never be eaten together.

Proteins

Proteins are Meats, Dairy, Eggs, Beans & Nuts.  They require Pepsin & Hydrochloric acid to digest effectively, and this atmosphere must be maintained for several hours.  Protein is a very complex food group, and for the most part only mixed-well with vegetables.  However, not all proteins are the same.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates, on the other hand, desires an Alkali or Base atmosphere to be digested effectively, so our bodies secrete ptyalin into our saliva to break them down.  Carbohydrates require the completely opposite chemicals from Proteins to be digested.

Fruits 

Fruits are essentially Carbohydrates, however some fruits are acidic and some are sweet.  None of the fruit types mixed-well with any other food.  Don’t take this the wrong way, fruits are very healthy for you but their chemical make-up does not interact well with any of the other food groups, so they should be eaten alone as a snack, dessert or meal.

There are 2 types of veggies: Non-Starchy and Mildly Starchy.  Both types mix well with the Proteins and Carbohydrates, although this plan will detail the best veggies for you to eat to boost your metabolism and flush your system as quickly as possible. You do not like eat veggies? Try hard to love them from now on.

Fats

There are two sources of fats: it is from Meat or Vegetable.  Fats are fine to ingest in moderation, and you must include some fats in your daily  food consumption to lose weight.  The healthiest type of fats to be eaten is from the vegetable fat, but you can get it with either if used sparingly and by combining them with the correct foods.

What is that?

So you want to lose weight?  Do you think you have tried everything?  Seems that you have wasted your time on all those diets…because they don’t work.

One thing that you should do is, change your lifestyle. Food combining talks about how our body digest our food intake, and it is based totally on Science.

“Meat & Potatoes”, “Burgers & Fries” or an “Eggs & Toast” menu, the side dishes and dessert!?  Sure, you can still have these foods, but you need to learn when to eat them and what is the best combination among them so your meals do not stick around in your body longer than necessary, and cause weight gain and illness.

Broccoli

Here we are, let’s getting more familiar to the world healthiest vegetable, the Broccoli. This kind of veggie is from cabbage family whose mostly green flower head just like cauliflower.

Do you know that avocado has another name? Its name is Persea Americana. If we look through from the etymology of this fruit, “avocado” comes from Spanish word, aguacate. In first English written, the word changed into avogato, then in 1697 its mentions as avogato pear, a term which was later corrupted as alligator pear (most probably because the texture of the skin of this fruit is like alligator skin). But as the years passed by, this green fruit is well-known as avocado.

Some sources have stated that a tree was originated in Mexico and Central America, in the state of Puebla. Then, this fruit with many species were much more widespread until we can easily find it everywhere nowadays.

As we know, avocado is mostly used for salad, salad dressing, or as a fruit to be eaten directly. But some lay people assume that this fruit is full with fat/bad cholesterol.

But you know what? Indeed, avocado contains full of fat, but it is the good fat for body, which normally known as high-density cholesterol. Why this HDL is called as the good cholesterol? It is because the HDL helps to remove the LDL from the arteries and bring back to liver, whereas LDL is the bad cholesterol as it is low-density, so it causes the plaque in the bloodstream if the level is high.

Yes, everyone around the world absolutely knows this fruit. This oval-yellow fruit is commonly used for cooking and baking, either the juice or the zest gives a strong flavor for dishes and cakes.

However, don’t you know that this little yellow has other benefits especially in health? Before we go on further on its benefits for human’s body, getting more familiar with this fruit is a must.

Let us talk a bit more about its history.

Where lemon was firstly found in this world? No source is sure about the exact place where lemons firstly found in this world, but some sources believe it was firstly grown in Assam – northern India, and northern Burma or China. With many varieties, this fruit has firstly entered to Europe through southern Italy. Then, in 1493 this fruit was firstly introduced to America when Christopher Columbus brought its seeds on his voyages. In scientific classification, this fruit has binomial name, citrus x limon or C. limon, and its genus is citrus.
