The Common Mental Disorders

After discussing on the importance of Mental Health, now we move on to discuss further on the most common mental health disorders that most people do not realize that they have it. We believe, by knowing each symptom we will be able to identify and recognize whether something goes wrong within ourselves.

Here we mention 3 common disorders faced in our society:

Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, or dread over anticipated events. This kind of feeling is useful in certain situations, some of the time; but the problem is, due to anxiety is a common feeling, how do we know when the signs of anxiety that we experience all this time might be significant to qualify for an anxiety disorder?

When we talk about anxiety disorder, actually, there are a group of mental disorders are included, namely: Generalized Anxiety Disorders (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Those disorders contain persistent feeling of high anxiety and extreme discomfort also tension.

Most of those disorders lead to the symptoms, such as: panic attack, nervousness, insomnia, feeling danger or dread, constantly sweating-hands and rapid heartbeat, difficulty focusing or thinking clearly because the person only think the things they are worried about

Depression

According to American Psychiatric Association (APA), Depression is a major depressive disorder, which is a common yet serious medical illness that mostly affect how you feel, the way you think and your action negatively.

Normally, people will feel depressed when they lost their loved ones, their job, or the ending of a relationship. It is normal for feeling a sadness or grief in response to such situations. However, depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. To be diagnosed with depression, the symptoms must be present for at least two weeks in a row.

Eating Disorders

Some people understand that eating disorders are other people lifestyle choices, in fact, these are serious illnesses that related to thoughts and emotions and a cause severe disturbance in people’s eating behaviors.

We believe that you all are familiar with bulimia and anorexia nervosa. People with such disorders see themselves as overweight even they are dangerously underweight, while some of them love to have a binge-eating but then forced vomiting, excessive use of laxatives, excessive exercise or even combination both behaviors

Some researchers say eating disorders caused by psychological factors, socio-cultural influences as well as genetic vulnerability.
